Considering Hiring Your Own Concrete Contractor?
Many families install a basketball goal on their driveway. However, that does not mean that pouring concrete for a sport court requires the same expertise and tools as for a driveway. Driveways are built to handle the weight of a vehicle, but usually have expansion joints that are inappropriate for a court. Athletic courts have special drainage requirements. They require a vapor barrier. A vapor barrier is crucial to prevent ground moisture from penetrating and cracking the slab. Even the concrete surface needs to be created specifically to avoid depressions where water can pool. Because of differences like this, Aguilar Athletic Services cannot stand behind our normal guarantee of the acrylic court surfacing we use unless we also construct the foundation for the court.
